Armidale Rowing Club

why rowing is good for you!

stronger upper body

Because rowing involves using your arms, shoulders and upper back to pull back, you’re building an upper body that is stronger which helps make everyday activities easier to do.

stronger lower body

Not only is your upper body going to get stronger when you row for exercise, but so is your lower body. Using your thighs, hamstrings, calves and hip flexors to push against the platform enhance the strength in your lower body.

Stronger core

When you contract your muscles in your stomach and lower back to complete the rowing exercises by using proper form, you’re making a stronger core. This helps you have better posture while also reducing the fat that you carry around your belly, which is the most dangerous place to have it.

Better cardio fitness

The back and forth rowing motions will get your heart rate going which is wonderful for your cardiovascular system. You’ll lower your risk of heart disease and strokes and get your blood pumping all of the oxygen and nutrients to your organs and muscles where they need them, while burning excess calories in the process.

As you can see, rowing is great for every aspect of fitness. It can help you gain muscle and lose weight so you can look in the mirror and like what you see.

Please let the club know if you are interested in enrolling. We hope to see you on the water soon!
